Cancellation and Refund Policy for ChessEra

Chess Academy Software Licenses:

• Monthly, Quarterly, and Half-Yearly Licenses:

  • Cancellation:

    • If the Chess Academy wishes to cancel a monthly, quarterly, or half-yearly license, they must provide written notice to the software provider at least 30 days prior to the next billing cycle.
    • The software provider reserves the right to cancel the license at any time due to violation of the terms of service or non-payment by the Chess Academy.

  • Refunds:

    • Monthly licenses: No refund will be provided for monthly licenses after the payment has been processed.
    • Quarterly and Half-Yearly licenses: If the Chess Academy cancels the license within the first 30 days of the billing cycle, they will be eligible for a pro-rata refund for the remaining unused period. After 30 days, no refund will be provided.

• Yearly License:

  • Cancellation:

    • If the Chess Academy wishes to cancel a yearly license, they must provide written notice to the software provider at least 60 days prior to the next billing cycle.
    • The yearly license can be transferred to a maximum of three different students within a year. The software provider must be notified in writing about any student transfers.
    • The software provider reserves the right to cancel the license at any time due to violation of the terms of service or non-payment by the Chess Academy.

  • Refunds:

    • Yearly licenses: If the Chess Academy cancels the yearly license within the first 60 days of the billing cycle, they will be eligible for a pro-rata refund for the remaining unused period. After 60 days, no refund will be provided.
    • In the case of student transfers, the software provider will make the necessary adjustments to the license accordingly.

• Non-Transferable Licenses:

  • Licenses other than the yearly license are non-transferable. They cannot be transferred to other students or individuals during the license period.
  • In the event of a student's withdrawal or unavailability, no refund or transfer of the license will be provided.

Chess Tournaments (both Online & Offline):

• Entry Fee Refunds:

  • If a participant cancels their entry before 72 hours of the event start time, they will be eligible for a 100% refund of the entry fee.
  • If a participant cancels their entry between 24 hours to 72 hours of the event start time, they will be eligible for a 75% refund of the entry fee.
  • If a participant cancels their entry between 3 hours to 24 hours of the event start time, they will be eligible for a 50% refund of the entry fee.
  • If a participant cancels their entry less than 3 hours before the event start time, no refund will be provided.

• Event Cancellation:

  • In the unlikely event that the online chess event is canceled by the organizer due to unforeseen circumstances or technical issues, participants will be notified as soon as possible.
  • If the event is canceled before its start, participants will receive a full refund of the entry fee.
  • If the event is canceled after its start, the organizer will make a reasonable effort to reschedule the event or provide an alternative compensation. If rescheduling or alternative compensation is not feasible, participants may be eligible for a partial refund at the discretion of the organizer.

• Technical Issues:

  • The organizer will not be held responsible for any technical issues experienced by participants during the online chess event, such as internet connection problems, server issues, or software glitches.
  • Participants are responsible for ensuring they have a stable internet connection and suitable devices to participate in the event. No refund will be provided due to technical issues on the participant's end.

• Changes to the Event:

  • The organizer reserves the right to modify the event schedule, format, or rules at any time. Participants will be notified of any significant changes via the provided communication channels.

• Disqualification:

  • Participants who violate the event rules or engage in any form of cheating, misconduct, or unfair practices may be disqualified from the event without refund.

• Refund Process:

  • Refunds, if applicable, will be processed within a reasonable timeframe after the cancellation or according to the terms specified by the organizer.
  • The organizer may deduct any applicable transaction fees or administrative charges from the refund amount.
